The original scent was the green cypress.  It was created to be a signature scent of the very fashionable dress shop on the Rive Gauche (left bank) of Paris in the early twentieth century.  Notoriety continued when Jacqueline Kennedy began burning the fragrance in the White House.  It was here that many people of distinction were introduced to this exquisite way to scent their homes.
