Simon Pearce opened his first glassblowing workshop in Kilkenny, Ireland in 1971.  Seeking independence from European business contraints and high energy costs, Simon moved his operation to Quechee, Vermont, where he completed the restoration of a historic woolen mill.  The Ottauquechee River provides hydroelectric power for glass furnaces along with electricity for the entire facility.
 

Prior to opening the workshop, Simon’s design aesthetic and skills evolved during time spent at Shanagarry Pottery, which was owned by his parents.  Simon then gained glassblowing experience working in European glass houses, traveling the world and through studies at the Royal College of Art in London.

From inception, Simon’s vision has been to create products that are beautifully designed, produced with premium quality materials and time-honored techniques and intended for a lifetime of everyday use.  Each piece is marked with the trademark pontil as a reminder that the piece is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind.
